Daily gas price tracker: Follow the trends in the Bay Area, California and United States

Gasoline prices plummeted during the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, but then rose steadily and spiked to record levels following the Russian invasion of Ukraine at the end of February. Prices have stabilized recently, but it could be months before they return to the levels we saw prior to the invasion.

To follow the current trend in prices in the Bay Area, California and the United States, we’ve gathered historical price data from AAA and produced these charts showing the changes through the years. Click on the buttons above the charts to refine and filter the data. The data is refreshed daily around 10 a.m. Pacific time.

And to go further back, here are the prices since 2000 with some key historical events that affected them.
