A newly completed Palm Springs home actress Lindsey Gort and her husband, restaurateur-turned-designer and builder Beau Laughlin, helped dream up is on the market for $5.1 million.

The couple worked with local architect Sean Lockyer of Studio AR+D, expanding the blueprint of the 4,185-square-foot home with five bedrooms, five bathrooms and a disappearing glass wall in the combined dining and living area.

Laughlin made his debut in single-family residential development and design with this project, which borrows from his experience as a serial restaurateur.

“I’ve had to consider not just the food but the overall experience for the customer,” he said, elaborating. “Do you feel welcome when you first walk in? Is there a natural flow from one space to the next? Is there good light during the day? Are the seats and booths comfortable? Will the atmosphere be memorable? I brought that same attention to this house.”

Riverside County records show the nearly half-acre lot last sold in July 2019 for $415,000.

Before the house went up, Laughlin and Gort spent time on the vacant lot, noting where they would have the best light and views for each room.

Features include an open-concept kitchen with a large center island, selfie-ready bathrooms with “beautiful lighting,” and ample glass. Fleetwood pocket sliders frame views of the San Jacinto mountain range and extend the interiors outdoors.

The grounds include a saltwater pool and spa, a fully outfitted kitchen, a fire pit area and desert landscaping with Garapa hardwood decking and a cantilevered pergola.

Overlooking the pool is a double-sided glass breezeway connecting the main areas to the bedroom suites in each house wing. The primary suite has a large walk-in and spa-inspired bathroom.

But more than looks, the house was built with sustainability, efficiency and durability in mind — think locally sourced materials, a four-unit split HVAC and 28 solar panels that offset 80% of the home’s energy needs, according to marketing materials.

A high-density eco-spray foam insulates against winter chill, summer heat and everything in between.

Scott Ehrens of Compass has the listing.

Gort, 39, is known for portraying a young Samantha Jones in The C.W.’s “The Carrie Diaries,” a “Sex and the City” prequel that ran from 2013 to 2014. She currently stars as a high-powered criminal defense attorney in the legal drama series “All Rise.”

Laughlin, 44, is known for his restaurant concepts Atrium and the now-defunct Kettle Black and Sawyer.
