Concept of Operations

Situation:

On 16 DEC 1944, the Germans launched a counteroffensive in response to the Allied Forces’ successful D-Day invasion and advancement into the Ardennes Region of France. It was the last major German offensive of World War II and it lasted 5 long, very cold weeks, ending 25 JAN 1945 in the Allies’ favor. But it came at a heavy cost. The US Army reports roughly 19,000 U.S. soldiers died, 47,500 were wounded, and more than 23,000 were missing.

See a timeline of key events from the Battle of the Bulge to better understand what our soldiers were up against.
